PowerHeal® Bioelectric Bandage for Mohs Surgery Wounds

Mohs Surgery Success: How Karin Used PowerHeal® Bioelectric Bandages

A simple check-up led to a surprising outcome

As a supervisor overseeing a team that provides crisis support for people with developmental disabilities, she’s constantly on the move, managing her team across seven counties. When she’s not at work, Karin spends time assisting her husband at his contracting business, enjoys trips to their cabin, and fits in travel whenever she can. Life, for Karin, is about staying engaged and making the most of every moment.

But two years ago, an unexpected health challenge disrupted her routine. During a regular check-up, a spot on her face that had seemed inconsequential turned out to be skin cancer (a melanoma). Within days, she was scheduled for Mohs surgery. Discovering she had skin cancer and needed Mohs surgery took Karin by surprise.

The Reality of Surgery

The gravity of the Mohs procedure hit her only when she was on the operating table. The surgeon presented her with two options: a skin graft, or a 14-inch incision that would stretch from her neck, around her ear, and down to her cheek. Although the incision was daunting, the surgeon recommended it as the better option for long-term results. “I just couldn’t believe what I was hearing,” Karin recalls. Despite her shock, she trusted the surgeon’s judgment, and before the procedure began, she asked him to call her husband and let him know this was going to be a bigger deal than they had anticipated.

The surgery went as planned, but when Karin saw her reflection after waking up, the reality of the situation set in. The necessary incision was as extensive as the surgeon had described, and the stitches were starkly visible. “It felt devastating,” Karin admits. “I’ve always been someone who likes to look good, wear makeup, and feel confident. Seeing myself in the mirror was a shock.”

The day after her surgery, Karin’s husband suggested she try the world’s only Bioelectric Bandages. Karin remembers thinking, “What do I have to lose?” And the next morning, PowerHeal® Bioelectric Bandages arrived at Karin’s home. At that time, she had no idea how significant they would become in her recovery.

Healing With PowerHeal® Bioelectric Bandages

Although her expectations weren’t high at first, Karin fully invested in making PowerHeal® Bioelectric Bandages part of her routine for her Mohs surgical incision. “I was pretty motivated to push this thing along as quickly as I could,” she says. The bandages felt less cumbersome than the standard bandage she had left the surgery center with, and they sat flat against her face, providing a sense of comfort.

As days passed, Karin began to notice changes. By day four, the healing process was visibly underway. The area around her face was beginning to show signs of improvement, and by day seven, the wound had started to flatten out. This became a regular routine for Karin and her husband, with each bandage change revealing more progress. “It kind of turned into this thing in our household,” she laughs, “where every few days we’d take off the bandage and see how it was coming along.”

It wasn’t just the speed of healing that impressed Karin; it was the quality of the recovery. By the end of the second week, the tissue was visibly coming together. On day 17, Karin took off the bandage and was amazed at the transformation. “There was still some healing to be done, but that was the moment when I realized how significant the product was. And it gave me hope,” she shares.

Returning to a Busy Life with Confidence

Karin’s confidence started to return more and more with every application of PowerHeal® Bioelectric Bandages. A month and a half into her recovery, her doctor gave her the go-ahead to apply makeup — sooner than she expected. This small step led to bigger strides in her recovery.

She recalls a trip to Tahiti that she and her husband had planned before the surgery. Less than three months post-operation, Karin confidently embarked on that vacation, and now looks back at photos from their trip with a sense of relief. “You can’t tell at all,” she says. “It was like next to a miracle.”

As someone who is always in front of people, whether at work or in social settings, minimal scarring and quick healing were crucial for Karin’s self-esteem. “It was huge,” she says. “At the beginning of this, I thought I’d be walking around with a visible scar for the rest of my life. PowerHeal changed that completely.”
