The surgeon presented her with two options: a skin graft, or a 14-inch incision that would stretch from her neck, around her ear, and down to her cheek. Although the incision was daunting, the surgeon recommended it as the better option for long-term results. “I just couldn’t believe what I was hearing,” Karin recalls. Despite her shock, she trusted the surgeon’s judgment, and before the procedure began, she asked him to call her husband and let him know this was going to be a bigger deal than they had anticipated.
